Captain Isaac Paine Elementary is a small PreK-5 school community that embraces creativity, collaboration, continual learning, educating the whole child, and integrating technology to enhance students’ education. Time and resources are allocated so that teachers can plan and learn together, create fun and engaging classroom environments, and so students have the tools needed for a top-notch education. We are a PBIS school with a focus on teaching students how to be contributing, positive members of our community. Parents and community members work hand-in-hand with our staff through volunteer opportunities, community service projects, after school enrichment programs, and community events held at our school. Our elementary school includes a new library and makerspace, a mix of renovated and existing classrooms, and is actively investing in the purchase of technology. This summer our school was one of three in Rhode Island selected to receive a $200,000 grant to expand personalized learning to scale school wide and serve as a Lighthouse School. Our school, and the other two Lighthouse Schools, will serve as models of how learning can be personalized within the walls of a typical school building.
