Reopening Update

UncategorizedComments Off on Reopening Update

Dear CIP Community,
On Wednesday, The Governor and Commissioner announced that they are adjusting the first day of classes for all students in Rhode Island to Monday, September 14th.

September 9-11 will be set aside for professional development for our teachers and staff only. Students do not report to school on these days.

Adjusting the first day of classes for students to Monday, September 14 will give our school community more time to prepare for a successful start of the school year.

The last day of school has been adjusted to June 25, 2021.

There will be 177 days of instruction for students, while maintaining 180 school days for teachers.

I am attaching a copy of the revised statewide calendar reflecting these changes.

Snow Days will no longer have to be “make up” days. They will be scheduled and completed virtually on the “snow day”.

As a result of these adjustments, the Governor and Commissioner’s time frame for making a decision on school reopening scenarios will move to the week of August 31st.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.
